Thoothukudi, July 30:Sterlite Copper has conducted Sterlite Scholarship Distribution Ceremony 2016 in the company premises on 30th July 2016. An amount of Rs. 6 Lakh was presented to the 107 students during the event.
Dr Sugumar, Dean, Fisheries College and Research Institute, Thoothukudi & Mr P Ramnath Chief Executive Officer, Sterlite Copper presented the scholarship to the students.
Sterlite has provided meritorious scholarship to the children of the employees and service providers of 10th and 12th standard who secured 90% and above in the board exams for the academic year 2015-16.
Scholarship has also been provided to the needy students from nearby community. This is done to enable higher education for the economically backward households. The beneficiaries include students from school education to students studying MBBS, BE, B.Com, B.Sc. and CA. As part of the community welfare initiatives, Sterlite supports students to pursue higher education every year.
