Tuticorin, October 30, 2015: Sterlite Copper in association with Tamil Nadu Animal Husbandry Department, Ottapidaram organized a Livestock Camp at Theerku Veera Pandiapuram, A.Kumarareddiyarpuram and T.Kumaragiri of Ottapidaram block today (30.10.2015).
During the camp, about 156 Goats, 41 Milch Animals and 99 Poultry Birds were screened by a team headed by Dr G Vinoth, Assistant Veterinary Medical Officer, Ottapidaram.
The camp witnessed a wide participation from resident villagers who brought their livestock to be treated by the doctors. Vaccines were administered to prevent them from infectious diseases. Medicines were also given to the villagers free of cost to treat their animals suffering from various ailments. De-worming was done on the animals to destroy intestinal parasites, such as roundworm and tapeworm.
The livestock camp was part of a series of on-going programmes by Sterlite Copper aimed at uplifting the communities in and around Tuticorin.
