Thoothukudi, 12 June 2017: Today, Sterlite Copper in Association with Humana NGO has launched Ilam Mottukkal project for the consecutive 6th Year. Mr. P. Ramnath, CEO STerlite Copper has inaugurated the program organised at RC Middle School, Thalamuthunagar. While addressing the gathered he has told that Vedanta Sterlite Copper initiate this project for specific development of girl children. He told that there is significant changes among the girl children through this project. This has helped to increase self-hygiene among the girl children and hygiene in and around their community.
Ms. A. Anitha, Chief Education Officer, Fr. Irudaya Raja Parish priest, Sri Elmer Vaegre, Director humana and Dr. Kailasm, Head CSR, Sterlite Copper also participated in this function and shared their thoughts with the community.
Ilam Mottukal, the Education project is a flagship initiative of Sterlite Copper aiming to improve enrolment and retention of girl children by ensuring quality education. It is also to ensure that every girl child is provide with quality school education in an enabling environment so that she can realize her fullest potential. Building leadership skills and increasing effective coordination between Education officials and community to enhance level of awareness about girl child education advocated constantly through this project. Under this project social, moral and material support is reaching 8030 children in 86 government and aided primary schools in and around Tuticorin. The educational material support is one of the essential components of the Ilam Mottukal Project. The educational kit that will provide to all the enrolled girl children. The Education kit comprises of a bag, notebooks, water bottle, nail cutter, innerwear (2 sets), pair of Chappal, dictionary (only for grade 3) and drawing books (only for grade 1 and 2).
