Thoothukudi, 15 July 2017: Today, Sterlite Copper has celebrated “World Youth Skills Day” at its Skill Development centre at Thoothukudi. Ms. Nivedita E .Robin, Chief Financial Officer- Pearl Shipping Agencies, Dr.Thadeus, HoD- Dermatology, Thoothukudi Government Medical college Hospital, Dr. R. Kailasam, Head – CSR, Mr.Ramesh Ganesh, Head – Instrumentation and Mr. G. Karthick, Associate Manager from Sterlite copper participated and addressed the gathering. Skill contest cum exhibition for the trainees in all the trades also organized in this occasion. Nearly 100 trainees participated and exhibited 15 creative models in respective trades including models of operations of Vedanta across the world. Certificates and prize distributed to the winners during this occasion.
Young people, almost three times more are likely to be unemployed than adults and are continuously exposed to lower quality of jobs, greater labor market inequalities, and longer and more insecure school-to-work transitions. In addition, women are more likely to be underemployed and under-paid, and to undertake part-time jobs or work under temporary contracts. To train the youth both men and women, in particular skill to develop them to get employment opportunity as well as to become entrepreneurs, Sterlite Copper runs Tamira Muthukkal Project for last four years.
